Building on the success of the CHEC model in the SMACHT project, UMB working with Ciheb developed and launched the Z-CHECK project with funding from the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the U.S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Z-CHECK was a pioneer in the adoption of HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) in Zambia. The project focuses on providing community linkage to health facilities to improve the metrics to reach UNAIDS 90-90-90 goals in the Southern and Lusaka Provinces. Z-CHECK has focused primarily on target populations, including priority populations and key populations. Z-CHECK is also implementing the DREAMS initiative in two districts in Southern Province. Ciheb Zambia is an implementing partner with UMB on the Z-CHECK project.
